  • 9 Bluetooth/ AVI Vehicle Detection Systems
  • 89 CCTV Cameras
  • 115 Field Ethernet Switches
  • 115 Uninterrupted Power Supplies
  • 4 Emergency 50kw Generators
  • 72 Dynamic Message Signs
  • 3 Complete Express Lane Toll Sites
  • 600 Light Poles
  • 2 New Traffic Signal Intersections
  • Wrong Way Detection System at 12 Ramps

Project Highlights

Integrated ITS / Traffic Monitoring & Control Systems
  •  ITS elements allow the express lanes and general purpose lanes to be monitored and managed dynamically (e.g. responding to incidents, adjusting signals, updating messaging).
  • Ramp signalization is included to coordinate ramp flows, reduce conflicts when merging into express lanes or general lanes.
  • The project includes state-of-the-art Wrong-Way Vehicle Detection Systems, enhancing safety by alerting drivers and notifying traffic management centers in real time to prevent potential head-on collisions
Open-Road Electronic Tolling (ORT) & Dynamic Pricing
  • Tolling is implemented via open-road tolling (no toll booths, no stopping) using gantries embedded with sensing equipment.
  • Tolls are dynamically priced (variable by congestion) to maintain targeted speeds (~ 45–50 mph) in the express lanes.
  • The toll rates are displayed on electronic message signs in advance of entrances, giving motorists the choice whether to enter the express lanes or remain in the general purpose lanes.
Lighting Infrastructure
  • Lighting is critical not only for driver visibility and safety in the express lanes and ramp transitions, but also to support the ITS / sensors (ensuring camera performance, detection under different lighting conditions).
